New York

We have the privilege of being in the heart of wine country in the Finger Lakes. There are many wineries, great tourism opportunities, and it's one of the prettiest places in the United States, especially from a hillside vineyard above any of the Finger Lakes. There's something to be said for buying local wines to go with local foods, and there are many restaurants focused on these types of sustainability and buy local opportunities.

New York Wine Resources

The Finger Lakes Wine Country website focuses on wine-related events, but also on other great tourism opportunities in the Finger Lakes region.

Finger Lakes Wine is another resource, from the The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, with local wine writer's columns and articles among other things.

The Finger Lakes Wine Festival is held annually at Watkins Glen in July.

The New York Wine and Culinary Center in Canandaigua, NY is focused on New York wine and food. There are wine tastings and classes on food preparation (you can learn anything from how to make a great pan sauce to knife skills). With a focus on New York, it's a great place to learn about our local resources or to spend a day with friends or family.

The Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance shares tourism information for the region, and though it's not focused on wine, there are winery and other wine-related events featured on the site.

Are there other resources you want to be sure we're aware of, and that we should be sharing with our friends? Register and post a comment. Thanks!
